One thing would be to add more humor and never take the setup too seriously - a sin this version is often guilty of, especially during its overcooked finale. (Note there is already a K-horror flick from 2014 called Manhole - minus the hashtag - about little girls getting kidnapped.) #Manhole is the kind of low-cost concept that a Hollywood producer could look to remake, and there are ways of improving upon its scenario while keeping the basic premise intact. The film pulls no punches when it comes to putting its tall and handsome star through the wringer, and Nakajima willingly appears both ridiculous and sinister as his character gets his comeuppance several times over. Unnecessary minutes are wasted as the psychotic husband stalks the escaped wife at a carnival and the camera lingers forever as the wild-eyed man stares at his wife from afar. There are nonetheless a few standout moments involving gross-out body horror and crafty production design (the sets are by Norifumi Ataka), especially a scene where Shunsuke, whose leg gets cut open by a rusty ladder, has to use a tiny stapler on his wound to keep from bleeding out. In the effort to bolster a straightforward domestic abuse plot with creaky horror clichés, this movie is at least 20 minutes too long. This prompts lots of onscreen messages and titles that overwhelm the movie’s second half, which loses track of its minimalist conceit to indulge in outré plotting and ample gore. Then he sets up an account on Twitter (renamed Pecker in the film, LOL) for an online avatar he calls “Manhole Girl,” hoping that a few perverted insomniacs will come to his rescue. With his location unclear and the police all but unhelpful, Shunsuke first dials up an ex-girlfriend who’s also, handily, a trained nurse. His odd behavior, including the fact that he doesn’t immediately call the cops, gives us a few clues that resurface later on, and Kumakiri does a good job setting up pitfall after pitfall, from the rain pouring down to toxic foam seeping from open pipes. This is what Shunsuke Kawamura, a successful real estate agent about to wed the boss’ daughter, has available to him after he spends the night drinking with his office buddies, then stumbles into a hole that seems to be part of an abandoned construction site. The hashtag before the movie’s title is a clue as to what # Manhole is about: Part contained-space thriller (think Buried in Tokyo), part social media satire, it showcases pretty much all you can do when you’re stuck several meters underground with only a phone, a pencil case and fairly reliable cell service to keep you connected. International interest will probably be limited to midnight madness screenings and the wide world of streaming. Premiering in Berlin’s Panorama section, the film should find an audience at home thanks to Nakajima, an actor, model, and singer in the platinum Japanese boys band Hey! Say! JUMP who gets his pretty face severely messed up here. As we plant roots in the neighborhood, we are excited to watch it grow with and around us.” “That sort of warm and welcoming environment was cultivated organically in LaGrange, and we know the Atlanta location will become known for emanating a similar atmosphere. “Our hope for this new location is that it functions as touchdown space for the surrounding community,” said Anthony Rodriguez, co-founder of Wild Leap. They quickly emerged as a key cultural driver for the community through hosting various concerts, festivals and community events. Their plans to make Wild Leap Atlanta a truly unique destination is a perfect fit for Centennial Yards South.”įounded in LaGrange, Georgia by Rob Goldstein, Anthony Rodriguez and Chris Elliott in 2017, Wild Leap renovated a historic 1940s auto building into the city’s first brewery. “Wild Leap initially captured our attention as incredible operators with a great brand, but we have continued to be impressed by their astonishing growth and innovative expansion into other categories, including spirits and ready-to-drink cocktails. “Since we started the reimagination of this unique Atlanta landmark, we’ve been planning the incredible opportunities to enliven this space and create a hub that serves both the surrounding neighborhoods and transient traffic alike,” said Ben Reeves, senior vice president of Stream Realty. Once complete, Centennial Yards South will include 50,000 square feet of retail throughout two lower levels 88,000 square feet of creative office space in 99 Ted Turner Drive, and 162 apartments in 125 Ted Turner Drive. Wild Leap is one of the first steps in the right direction, and we look forward to sharing more on our plans for the development.”Ĭentennial Yards South is anchored by the adaptive reuse of the early 20th century buildings that formerly housed the Norfolk Southern Railroad’s offices and freight depot, as well as the reconstruction of the adjacent Nelson Street Bridge. “By activating the good bones of these historic storefronts with a mix of vibrant retail and F&B offerings, we are aligning with the spirit of rejuvenation that is taking place across the Downtown district. “Centennial Yards South is just the tip of the iceberg for what’s in store for this incredible site, and we are thrilled to be a part of realizing that vision,” said Christopher Dean, senior vice president at Stream Realty. It will be the largest mixed-use development of its kind in the Southeast. The main level opens onto the Canyon, a 740-foot-long pedestrian promenade located below street level between the buildings and viaduct that will offer dining, entertainment and other activations - bringing a unique and engaging experience to Downtown Atlanta.Ĭentennial Yards South encompasses six of the total 50-acre Centennial Yards development, a $5-billion transformation of former railyards into an experiential and inclusive mixed-use community offering more than a dozen city blocks and reconnecting surrounding communities in Downtown Atlanta. “While we spent several years looking for the perfect opportunity to add a location in Atlanta, after learning about the size and scope of the Centennial Yards development in Downtown Atlanta, we immediately knew that we wanted to be a part of it.” “The spirit of Wild Leap is about following your passions, taking chances and doing what you love,” said Rob Goldstein, Co-founder of Wild Leap. Centennial Yards South is a joint venture between CIM Group and Stream Realty Partners Opening in Fall 2021, Wild Leap’s 15,340-square-foot brewery, distillery and event destination will span across two levels at 125 Ted Turner Drive and include multiple bars, outdoor seating, lounge areas and event spaces. Wild Leap Craft Beverages will anchor a cool new development in downtown Atlanta. Why? Because people don’t know they need it yet. Google quickly dropped the product to protect their core brand though Glass isn’t totally gone and don’t be surprised if you see it return in the next 10 years. Just one problem, the use of advanced technology was framed as an invasion of one’s privacy which opened up a can of worms with business owners, parents and security services because you could record and capture digital media with taps, blinks and other gestures. When Google Glass hit the market years ago, the community was blown away by the opportunities and people loved the concept. We’ve come to know now, that we need to take these hints seriously. How digital marketing evolves through this era is yet to be seen, but what we do know, is that Google consistently drops hints and information that would suggest future algorithm or services updates. We use digital assistants daily for directions, to play our favorite tracks and perform a range of other tasks like setting alarms, reminders and searching for information. We live in the age of rapidly evolving technology. Let’s just hope we’re a few decades from a Terminator roaming the streets □ In many ways, they’ve turned into the modern day Skynet. They’ve spent years acquiring companies, developing new tech and supporting military initiatives. They’ve gained and lost ground over the years though one thing is true, they know how to evolve. We know that Google owns the search market. The monster, Google, is on the move and is built around delivering unique experiences to users, at any cost. I went to the Gathering Hall to visit Tetsucabra. I wanted to get one more upgrade before I visited Gypceros again - and to do that I needed a "Jumbo Bone". I watched a Gaijinhunter video, picked up Lance, and upgraded it. While doing so, I came to the conclusion that HH was a rough choice for a manic Gypceros. I walked away from the game and cooled off for a day. HE STOLE MY ANTIDOTES IN THE FIRST 5 MINUTES OF THE FIGHT. I loaded it up again to see if I could improve after knowing his tricks. After 2 carts and 5 minutes left, I abandoned the quest. Long story short: I was patient as I could be, but Gypceros bodied me. I didn't know what a Gypceros looked like, but I eventually found it. I was happy to see that I actually had 12 First Aid Kits in the map, and thought it would be EZ-PZ. After confirming that I had access to a Gypceros in the Gathering Hall (Key Detail), I proceeded to eat, load up on Mega Potions, and head in to get my Rubbery Hide. I did some research, and learned I could get this from a Gypceros - whatever that was. I did so, and I immediately looked to see what I needed next: Pretty soon I was farming Caravan Jaggi for his armor and for a Screamer Sac to upgrade my pipes to the "Great Bagpipe". I decided right then that I would purchase the game, main Hunting Horn, and slap monsters silly with my glorious set o' pipes. (I play the Great Highland Bagpipes in my non-hunting life.) When I saw that you could literally thwomp dragons with a bagpipe - I was sold. As I learned more about the game, I started to become intrigued. Two weeks ago I saw just how much people were talking about MH4U, and I decided to check it out since I had a New 3DS XL for Smash. I had always heard good things about them, but the concept sounded so mundane. I've been cruising around the community lately and have been enjoying all the posts so much that I wanted to jump in and share my own recent learning experience: In Monster Hunter terms I'm only about a week old, so I'm about as green as they get. Even if no one else joins in, Kirby Star Allies is easy enough that most children should have no problem making their way through the game- indeed, as one of the first games to introduce a younger player to, there are few better candidates than a Kirby game, and none more so than Star Allies. But that said, this is a wonderful feature for something like families or kids- a parent or an older sibling can easily join in with a young child and play with them together, having some nice times along the way. Now, the thing here is, like all Kirby games, Star Allies borders on being so easy that it can be actively off-putting- and getting more help is really the last thing you want then. "Even if no one else joins in, Kirby Star Allies is easy enough that most children should have no problem making their way through the game- indeed, as one of the first games to introduce a younger player to, there are few better candidates than a Kirby game, and none more so than Star Allies."Īnother area where the game does shine is in its inclusion of co-op- as mentioned previously, you can have others join in any time you want to assist you with progressing through the game. Technically, the Wii U got a Kirby game (not to mention Smash Bros., which starred Kirby too), but this is the first time we have seen an actual mainline Kirby game in HD. Which makes sense, given that this is, in fact, actually the first time we have seen Kirby in HD- or at least, Kirby proper. You have here a game that looks great- Kirby has always had a pleasant and cheery bubblegum aesthetic that is the kind of thing that kids will latch on to right away, and with Star Allies, that aesthetic shines like it never has before. As Kirby games go, Star Allies is well made, and near the top of the bunch in terms of sheer quality. The levels are well designed, colorful, and immediately pleasing. You can even turn enemies to your cause, and still get access to their powers. There’s a host of interesting enemies for you to appropriate powers from. To be absolutely fair, there’s a lot going in Star Allies that keeps things fresh- you can play with your friends, or by yourself. For better or for worse, Star Allies is more Kirby. Star Allies, which marks the franchise’s debut on the Nintendo Switch, and the first major original game released by Nintendo on their console this year, falls in the latter camp- it’s more or less iterative on the co-op sidescrolling platforming formula the series has followed for a while, now. Nintendo has often been known to get wildly experimental with its pink puffball of a mascot (often to the detriment of the quality of the games), but there are other times when they are puzzlingly, disappointingly safe with games starring Kirby. Gameplay: The Battle Nun will attempt to roar at you and stun you for a short time, but it telegraphs when it will do this, so just move away when you see it getting ready. The demon, a Battle Nun, turns around, comes down off the altar and roars at Eddie, breaking his contemplations on how sexy it is. A walking altar comes up one side of the pile and Eddie sees what looks like a nun on it, but he knows better and calls it out as a demon. When you are ready, use the Earthshaker 3 or 4 times to collapse your surroundings and trigger a cutscene.Ĭutscene: The camera zooms out and Eddie sees that he is on a huge skull pile in the middle of some strange new land. Druids will constantly gate in as you kill them, so take as long as you want to get used to using your axe and guitar. Use your axe and guitar attacks to kill them and you will eventually learn how to block attacks (B) and how to perform the Earthshaker (A+X). Grab the guitar with Y, then use X to hit the Druids with Shocker lightning strikes, or hold X down to blast them off the ground with a Pyro attack. When you have it, use A to attack and kill the Druids, then head back up the stairs to kill one trying to pick up your guitar. If you want, you can walk around avoiding the Druids to hear Eddie trying to pacify them, though they ignore him of course. Gameplay: Go down the stairs to the floor below, run over to the axe embedded in the ground and press Y to pick it up. Eddie tries to talk to them but they draw daggers and advance on him. Blood soon ends up on his belt buckle, and the real Ormagöden appears, kills the band (except for the bassist, who manages to escape) and takes Eddie away.Įddie then wakes up in the Temple of Ormagöden, where red-hooded Druids are worshipping something. After the guitarist runs off, Eddie is crushed underneath the Ormagöden stage, which collapses. Eddie then spots the guitarist on top of the Ormagöden statue from which he soon falls off, forcing Eddie to rush into action to catch both the guitar and its player. Eddie speaks to another roadie, wishing that he was born earlier. Then the lead singer talks to Eddie about building a new stage that would speak more to the band's 'tween demographic', before going on stage to sing "Girlfriend". The guitarist approaches him and tries to wind him up, but Eddie simply hands back his fixed guitar and the guitarist storms off in a huff. 21.1 STAGE BATTLE: vs the Tainted Coil at the Sea of Black TearsĪchievement: Got a Car and a Date Complete the missionĮddie Riggs, roadie for the band Kabbage Boy, is seen tuning a guitar.20.1 STAGE BATTLE: vs the Drowning Doom at the Sea of Black Tears.18.1 STAGE BATTLE: vs the Drowning Doom at the Dry Ice Mines.13.1 STAGE BATTLE: vs the Drowning Doom at Death's Clutch.11.1 STAGE BATTLE: vs the Hair Metal Militia at the Pleasure Dome.8.1 STAGE BATTLE: vs the Hair Metal Milita at Battersmith.6.1 STAGE BATTLE: vs the Hair Metal Militia at Bladehenge.
